Kind of work you’d be doing:

  • Install and configure servers in a co-located and managed hosting facilities
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and monitoring production 24 * 7 * 365 infrastructure in four Data Centers (and counting).
  • Ensure all systems are correctly configured, optimized for performance, scalable and secure
  • Deploy cloud infrastructure and services on IBM Cloud and Google Cloud Platform
  • Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business.
  • Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to deploy and support customer-facing web applications
  • Manage backup & restoration implementation and testing
  • Deploy custom Linux packages used by Think Research
  • Understand different metrics for measuring success and performance of services to ensure service performance, scalability, stability and security for both existing and new service and infrastructure deployments
  • Communicate timelines, service dependencies, resource constraints and progress with key stakeholders quickly and effectively
  • Maintain the technical infrastructure for business continuity plan (BCP) and DR (Disaster Recovery)
  • Develop and improve infrastructure and application performance monitoring and alerting systems

Your Ideal Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with design, implementation and management of highly available (HA) system architectures.
  • 5 + years experience administering and troubleshooting Linux systems.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting application components including web servers (Nginx, Apache), caching and queuing software (Redis, RabbitMQ), load balancers (HAProxy, ELB), and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure using automation for provisioning, software deployment and configuration management (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of bash, ruby, python, and other web scripting languages.
  • Experience using VMWare ESXi virtualization and Hyper-V
  • Familiar with network equipment and network administration including switches, routers, load balancers and firewalls
  • Experience deploying and configuring monitoring solutions such as Nagios, SolarWinds, NewRelic, Dynatrace, etc.

Nice to Have:

  • 5 + years’ experience working with Windows Server 2008/2012
  • Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as IBM Cloud / Bluemix, GCP, AWS, etc.
  • Experience managing  Windows environments including active directory domains and trusts
  • Familiarity with shared storage using iSCSI
  • Windows LAN experience desirable including hardware, imaging, troubleshooting
  • Experience with ITIL and ITSM or other applicable IT related ISO standards
