The kind of work you'd be doing:

We are seeking a bright  individual to join our team for a 1-year contract position as a Technical Writer. We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual that has a passion for taking complex information and translating it into clear and concise technical documentation. As a member of the Product Development Team, you will play an integral role in delivering high quality software products by creating and maintaining a comprehensive suite of product documentation.

This role includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Creating and maintaining resources for features and products including: product manuals, feature briefs and release notes
  • Collaborating with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, and Developers to gain a full understanding of product features and functionality
  • Participating in Scrum Ceremonies to obtain information needed for product documentation
  • Reviewing documentation prepared by other team members to ensure consistency in tone and style
  • Supporting privacy and security initiatives by participating in the development of required written materials (Privacy Impact Assessment & Threat Risk Assessment)
  • Supporting Marketing with technical information required to support business development initiatives

Ideal qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree with 2-4 years of extensive experience in technical writing with proven ability to produce high calibre product documentation
  • Proven ability to synthesize and communicate technical information with the ability to tailor content according to audience
  • Strong research skills including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources (subject matter experts, developers, and analysts) to develop internally and externally facing content
  • Experience designing user manuals and intuitive product briefs
  • Experience using automated marketing tools such as MailChimp
  • Must thrive and work well under pressure, excel with tight deadlines, and have excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner who takes initiative

Considered an Asset:

  • BA/BS in a related technical field (Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology)
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT industry
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum
  • Experience using JIRA and G Suite Apps
  • Fluency in French
